Research Experience

 

January 2018-Present     Research Assistant and Honor’s Thesis Candidate in Early Childhood Cognition Lab, University of Washington

Mentors: Dr. Jessica Sommerville & Dr. Kelsey Lucca

Thesis Title: Can I Count on You?’ Infants’ Expectations of Prosocial Behavior Across Contexts

Duties

  • Conducting research project with infant participants and using SMI Eye-tracker
  • Coding infant looking-time data with BeGaze and Datavyu software
  • Extracting data and conducting data analysis using Microsoft Excel and SPSS
  • Presenting research during quarterly lab meetings with lab P.I. Dr. Sommerville, post-docs, graduate students and other research assistants
  • Preparing honor’s thesis project proposal and writing Honor’s Thesis paper on project
  • Providing guidance to junior (newer) research assistant
  • Interacting with research participants and their families
  • Scheduling research participants
  • Creating marketing materials assisting with recruiting participants for various lab projects

  • Supervising and providing guidance for other tutors’ personal projects
  • Supervising center during evening hours
  • Providing feedback to graduate and undergraduate university students on writing and research assignments

Duties:

  • Designing marketing materials for bi-weekly meetings
  • Communicating with club members via weekly email newsletters
  • Communicating with Psychology Department about club activities

Double Dip Conference: Recruited high school student participants for conference; designed marketing materials and evaluation forms; supervised and organized campus tours; writing LinkedIn article on conference on behalf of Diversity in Psychology Organization; conducting data analysis on feedback gathered from conference attendees to improve on future conferences and activities

 

December 2016- April 2018    Snail Mail Society, President

  • Started student organization dedicated to fostering community at the University through the art of letter-writing
  • Planned club activities, supervised projects of other club members and officers
  • Planned, organized and facilitated Pen Pals Project

Pen Pals Project: The purpose of this project was to connect students with other students that they would regularly communicate with via letter-writing. We matched 15 pairs of students together and organized a meet and greet for these students in February 2018.
